4 Perfumes That Won't Give You a Headache | www.ashleybrookedesigns.com

You’ll Love These!

I’m the first one to admit that I don’t like perfume.  Well, that’s most perfumes at least! When I walk into a department store, boom, instant headache. My grandmother is the same way… neither she nor I can deal. It’s too many smells all at one time. So for most of my adult life I’ve stayed away.

But that all changed when Ryan and I got engaged. He gifted me a bottle of Jo Malone’s Wild Bluebell, he had sniffed them all and thought this one would be safe for my sensitive nose, and he was right!

Ever since then I’ve been dipping my toes back into the perfume world and I’ve found a few that I actually really love. So if you are like me and had written off perfume completely, today’s post is especially for you! These are 4 tried and tested perfumes that you’ll love. They are all feminine, but not too “floral-y” and have the perfect amount of romance… try them out and let me know what you think!

My 4 Favorite Perfumes:

Jo Malone Wild Bluebell

This one is hands down my favorite, for the obvious reason mentioned above.  Plus, this is the perfume I wore on my wedding day. I love the scent of this one and it will forever smell like love to me. This one is a MUST buy.

Notes:

Top: Bluebell

Middle: Persimmon

Bottom: White Musk

Ralph Lauren Woman

When I think of a classic perfume, I think of this one. It’s perfectly ladylike, not too overpowering, but still sexy perfume. It has a classic floral scent, but not too powdery, you know what I mean?! This one is SO good, it’s a classic.

Notes:

Bold Tuberose Accord, Vibrant Woods

Skylar Capri

This perfume was sent to me in a gifting and I totally FELL IN LOVE with it. It’s all natural, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic, and free of parabens. If you have a sensitive nose, you’ll love this one. It’s been in heavy rotation for me lately!

Notes:

Bergamot, neroli, grapefruit, blood orange, teakwood, sheer vetiver, crystal musk, dewy rose, and muguet.

Tocca Florence

This perfume by Tocca surprisingly made it to my favorite list after trying it out on a whim a few years ago. I love the scent. It’s definitely stronger than the Wild Bluebell but perfect for a date night.

Notes:

Top: Italian bergamot, grapefruit leaves, green pear, apple.

Middle: ivory gardenia, crushed violet petals, jasmine, tuberose, blue iris.

Base: blonde wood, white musk.

  1. Except this is HIGHLY personal. With lots of research I have discovered it is truly natural allergens in fragrances that cause me to react (migraines, breathing problems). I am allergic to orange and grapefruit (lemon, lime and bergamot are the only citrus I don’t react to) and tuberose – listed in one of your suggestions – gives me immediate, horrible migraines. Turns out it is related to my deadliest allergy, allium (onions, garlic, chives, etc). Everybody is different what gives you a headache might not give one to someone else. Each person has to pay attention to ingredients and research for themselves.

  2. Love this! I get headaches from many perfumes too—it never used to be a problem for me, wth?! I definitely want to try the Jo Malone Bluebell! My all-time favorite, especially for fall and winter, is Barr and Co original scent (the perfume, moisturizer, bubble bath—they’re all excellent). It’s THE most comforting scent.

    • Allison! I;ve never heard of Barr & Co I’ll definitely have to check that out! Thank you for the rec.! xx – AB

  3. I cannot wait to try a couple of those! I also have a difficult time with perfumes, and some of my favorites over the years have been discontinued. Oddly enough, one in my cabinet that I like is Abercrombie 8.

    • Wanda! Oh my gosh, I love that! I used to wear Abercrombie 8 in high school and loved it! That’s so fun! xx – AB

  4. Wild Bluebell is one of my favorite scents. It’s so soft and fresh! I also smelled Philosophy’s Sweet Cream perfume recently and thought it was great for sensitive noses. It smells like an actual milkshake or cookie.

  5. I can totally relate to you, it’s a huge problem for me to find a perfume that doesn’t give me an instant split headache, especially those super sweet or frutal fragrances. I remember once I went to a fancy place and then a woman was wearing a perfume that smelled so good and fresh, that didn’t gave me headache. I should’ve had asked her which one she wore. I’m gonna take a look at this list! Thanks a lot for sharing this, Ashley! ❤
