All Of *Our* Chore Tricks & Tips To Make My Life Easier!

Small change that make the biggest difference…

Last week I shared on stories that I recently realized that my washer machine (this is what I have btw) has a delayed start feature…who knew?! Not me! And one day a few weeks ago I had the brilliant idea of throwing in a load of laundry before bet and setting it to go off an hour before I get up. Okay, so if my alarm is set for 6AM then I set my washer to start at 5AM so as soon as I’m awake I have a *freshly* washed load of laundry that is ready to be moved over to the dryer.

Ryan and I have a really great division of labor situation at the moment (here’s a great podcast on the subject!) in our home and we, on most days, work as a well-oiled team. You should see us in the mornings… honestly it’s impressive as we dance around the kitchen! He makes our smoothies, coffee, and washes the dishes as I unload the dishwasher and make the bed. But the laundry, now that is fully my domaine, and truth be told it needed some reworking.

I would start a load most mornings and by mid-to-late afternoon totally forget that I had wet laundry just sitting in the machine. A few weeks ago I reached peek frustration, like why is this small(-ish!) chore so hard for me to get a handle on, and then I realized that I was making time to start the laundry but once the day was rolling I wasn’t making it a priority to finish it . And then I found myself constantly rewashing clothes! But by ending the day with “starting” a load, it all started to WORK. At night when I throw in the load for the next day, I take our the dry laundry, fold, and put away. It’s honestly been seamless.

Anyway, I realize that this is a small tweak to our routine, but it has made SUCH a giant difference. (I wrote more about this idea here.) And when I mentioned it on Stories, so many of you reached out to tell me how much of a difference it made for you, too! I also asked you to see if there were any small tricks or tweaks that you’ve made in your daily chores that have made giant differences… and y’all came through, so below is a list from you! I had hundreds of responses, so I grabbed a handful to share below. Seriously, you guys are amazing.

P.S. If this topic is up your alley, you may what to get on The Lazy Genius podcast train if you haven’t already. I’m obsessed with her and love the way she thinks through the little things that add up to make a big difference!
