April’s Book Club Pick

A beautiful, fun, heartfelt love story that we couldn’t put down…

How are we already welcoming April?! Though I do adore spring… and this month’s Book Club pick! It came highly recommended, and I’m so glad I took the advice and immediately downloaded it on my Kindle. It’s a full-of-heart, slightly steamy, laugh-out-loud funny, endearing love story so I hope you’ll read Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman.

If you are looking for *the perfect* book to pop into your beach bag this month, trust me, this is it. Funny You Should Ask has everything you want in a good old-fashioned beach read: celebrities, gossip, and romance (duh). The trifecta to a book that pairs perfectly with a cold piña colada!

Two of my favorite authors (that we interviewed here!) Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan of The Royal We and The Heir Affair, also loved Funny You Should Ask, saying it’s “a smart, sensitive story full of love and longing – not to mention a totally swoon worthy hero. It’s also a page-turning peek into the celebrity machine. Framed by one infamous weekend and its fallout, the book goes beyond the glossy surface to thoughtfully tackle questions of perception versus reality, and which can hurt more: the limitations other people place on us, or the ones we place on ourselves.”

I mean, that really says it all!

Funny You Should Ask is Elissa’s debut adult novel, and you can catch up with her and her writing here and on Instagram here. Her next book will be released in May, and uses the same then and now format, alternating between years to tell the story. I actually really loved this way to frame the story, so I’m excited about her next one, Once More With Feeling! (Pre-order here.) Maybe we’ll add it to the Book Club pick list!
