Our Kitchen Island Decor

This post has been a long time coming and I’m not sure why I haven’t put it together sooner, because it’s by far the most frequent “ask” I see pop up in my inbox… our kitchen island decor!

When we were renovating our kitchen (see the before and afters of the kitchen here!) we added a GIANT island. To be honest, it is huge, but we love it and it’s exactly what we were hoping for when we were dreaming up this space… although once it was complete I had a momentary freak out about what the heck I was going to do with all. that. Countertop!

But after a little brainstorming, I realized I just needed something that would ground the island and act as a home base for a handful of both useful and pretty things… which is where the large wicker tray came into to play, and once that was in, everything else came together!

I found this beautiful cake stand from Target of all places! And then came the infamous blue and white vase, which is *by far* my favorite accessory in our home. I love the character, plus more than anything I love filling it with fresh flowers each week (see here, here, and here!).

The tray, cake stand, and vase are staples on the island and I swap out some of the smaller items, like this beautiful bowl or these pretty vintage plates! But you will often find a pretty set of napkins (see my favorites here) and a few other baubles here and there.

All and all, this little space on our island has served us well. It ended up so charming and functional, there is little not to love! (And here are the chairs we are always sitting on to enjoy the island… we’re so happy with them!)

Hopefully this helps you feel inspired to create your own island moment. And I’d love to know which kitchen accessories are your favorite pieces to display …tell me what I should add in the kitchen!

P.S. Here are all my kitchen links and sources, in case you want to every last detail!
