Perfect Pink Nursery: Classic “Not Too Pink” Room

This room is the jewel box of our home!

When we moved into our home I was two weeks out from having Juliet, and I needed this room to feel complete down to my very soul! Our house was under major construction, but I begged our contractors to finish this precious room first. I needed a safe place to bring our sweet baby GIRL home to in a house that was otherwise fully torn apart (see here for proof!). Our team was so kind to speed everything up and focus on this room for me, and I am so grateful that we did.

This room is my absolute favorite. I love it so much! I joke that I fought for this room in our budget, but that’s accurate! I made quite a few adjustments for pieces that would take too long to arrive just to have this one space finished. I could go on and on about why I love it, but truly, this was our little safe haven for four months while we still had a crew of guys working on the rest of our home. Laurens, Juliet, and I would cuddle up in the chair to read and rock and sing for hours!

I also loved Laurens’ little nursery in our old house, and felt so at home snuggling for hours there so that’s the feel I wanted to mimic with Juliet’s. But now it’ll soon be turning it into a big boy room (!!), so updates to come! That’s why I felt like I could really dive in and go all out on Juliet’s. But if you are looking for a classic baby boy nursery, look no further! I kind of feel like we knocked it out of the park, ha! And here are all the paint colors we’ve used in our homes if that helps. So here we go with all the baby girl nursery ideas for you…

Let’s take it from the top…

Really quick, before we dive in, this is where we started! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was with the potential of this room!

It started with one inspiration photo.

It all began with a single inspiration photo. I saw it on Pinterest and thought, yes, that is exactly what I’m looking for: simple, sweet, and charming! We tested a lot of paint colors before we landed on the one.

The pink that started it all…

Pink Ground No. 202 by Farrow & Ball

It’s the prettiest dusty pink, and let me tell you, pinks are HARD to get right, but I think we found a good one! I wanted to color drench the whole room, so everything from the door to the crown molding to the baseboards is the same soft pink. This was the first time we’d ever really done a color drench, and gosh, I do not regret it for one single second!

Also, just a tip here, we used an egg shell finish on the walls and a satin on the moulding, just that little detail really made a huge difference.

Prepping the walls was worth every bit of the work and extra cost.

Before we could add the picture frame molding, we had to skim coat the walls because they had an orange peel texture and this smoothed them out. It’s such a process, but again, so worth it! The picture frame molding adds the sweetest architectural detail, and those scalloped sconces really made the room feel both intentional and special.

We still haven’t hung anything on the walls, and honestly, I’m not sure we will anytime soon. I love how peaceful and uncluttered it feels. It’s just so sweet.

Let’s talk furniture!

When it comes to the furniture, let me break it all down for you…

The dresser: I found her dresser for $300 at an antique store, and it is the find of the century! A similar dresser retails for over $2k, so I honestly felt like I’d won the lottery! I really wanted an antique dresser similar to Laurens’, something that felt like it had been around for a long time. I always think antiques ground a space, and this one certainly does.

The mirror: A fun and easy find at the Shop the Silos Magnolia store! (Here’s a similar one for under $200.)

The crib: As soon as I saw this crib, I knew it was THE one! I love the classic lines, and it just felt so feminine.

Daisy door knobs: I found these sweet daisy door knobs for her closet on Etsy… I had some just like them in my own room growing up!

The custom daisy pillow: Late one night I found a very talented woman who embroiders flowers, and I had her custom make this daisy pillow for me. She even made our Christmas stockings later that year!

The rocker and side table: These are staples in her room and really where we spend the most time. The rocker is actually comfy and the side table is the perfect resting spot for books.

Roman shades: Her Roman shades really completed the room and make it feel so tailored! We actually used this company to put shades in the rest of our home, you can see them all here.

The patterned ottoman: This patterned ottoman pulls the whole room together, and it’s the perfect hiding place! The kids use it all the time, and I often find both of them tucked underneath with their little feet hanging out and flashlights in hand. Worth every penny!

The scalloped sconces: I get asked about these constantly, so I had to include them here! These sweet scalloped sconces are one of my favorite little details in the whole room. They cast the softest glow and make the space feel so intentional and special.

The fan: Finding a beautiful fan is harder than it looks, but I love this one and we have it in three rooms.

The comfy chair and floor bookshelf: I love her little comfy chair and floor bookshelf. Having her books within reach has been such a win in this room!

The rug: After searching high and low (seriously!), I found this GORGEOUS rug, and honestly I’ve never seen anything like it since. It’s stunning! BUT I will say, I would not recommend it for a nursery. It’s wool and stains fairly easily, so we’ll have to replace it soon, and gosh, I will cry when that day comes because I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Honestly? Get it for your own room. Ha! (And here’s a blog post on more nursery-friendly rugs, because why is this so hard?!)

Our happy place!

I could go on and on, but I wanted a post that could live on the blog for you to reference, because I get so many questions about her room and the perfect pink! You’ll have to let me know if you use this color. I highly, highly recommend it! Hopefully this all helps with baby girl nursery ideas for you. And everything is linked here in one place for easy access. xx

  1. I love the look of this rocker. On a comfort level are you able to live in it like I know you do in nursery rockers ?
