The New Summer Books On Our Radar
You won’t want to miss these reads!
One of my favorite things about summer is all the good books that come out during this laid-back season. Whether I’m at the beach, by the pool, or just enjoying our backyard, I always have a book with me—and there is no shortage of titles our book club team is excited about this year!
Speaking of which, are you loving May’s Book Club selection as much as I am?! Seriously one of my favorite reads this year!

Whether you are into the romance genre like I am or you are ready to throw the latest thriller in your tote bag this summer, we have you covered. Truly, such a great array of book releases are on the horizon!
And if you ask me, this one is VERY high on my must-read list. Doesn’t it look adorable?!
June 2022
ABBC Adjacent: Nora Goes Off Script by Annabel Monaghan (June 14)
Nora Goes Off Script is about a a screen writer who writes TV movies for a Hallmark Channel-esque station. But she unexpectedly sells a movie for the big screen, and her life is turned upside down when the studio comes to her house to shoot for a few days.
Mystery/Thriller: The House Across the Lake: A Novel by Riley Sager (June 21)
A summer staple if ever there was one, Riley Sager consistently puts out page turning thrillers each year. This is a great one to throw in your bag on your way to the lake!
Wildcard Pick: You’re Always Enough and More Than I Hoped For by Emily Ley (June 21)
My friend Emily Ley is releasing her first children’s book this summer and as a new mama, I can’t wait to add this book to Laurens’s bookshelves. I love the sweet illustrations, and I think the message is one that parents and kids alike need to hear.
July 2022
ABBC Adjacent: The Bodyguard: A Novel by Katherine Center (July 19)
Counting down the days until this book release! Katherine Center flips the script with a female bodyguard protecting a heartthrob actor from his stalker. To protect his family from his personal problems, actor Jack Stapleton has his bodyguard, Hannah Brooks, pose as his girlfriend. I’m mean, honestly, I’m already sold!
Mystery/Thriller: The Last to Vanish by Megan Miranda (July 26)
Set at an inn along the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina, Miranda’s latest has a journalist revisiting a cold case until he goes missing himself. Then it’s up to Abby, the inn’s proprietor, to get to the bottom of both cases.
Wildcard: Upgrade by Blake Crouch (July 12)
Blake Crouch’s first two books, Dark Matter and Recursion, were wildly popular, so I have no doubt his latest will be a hit as well. The idea behind this book reminds me of the movie Limitless. Our main character’s genome is hacked to maximize his abilities and before long, he learns of the less than ethical reasons he’s been targeted. I think I might pick this one up for Ryan!
August 2022
ABBC Adjacent: Just Another Love Song by Kerry Winfrey (August 2)
You may remember we chose Kerry Winfrey’s last book, Very Sincerely Yours as our book club pick for August last year (and I loved the discussion!). So needless to say, we’re excited about her latest, Just Another Love Song. Sandy and Hank were high school sweethearts before Hank left town to pursue a music career. Successful in their hometown, Sarah is caught off guard when Hank comes back to town with his son in tow.
Mystery/Thriller: Girl, Forgotten by Karin Slaughter (August 23)
A popular high school girl is killed on prom night and forty years later a US Marshal comes to secretly investigate the crime, all while also protecting the judge receiving threats. Very interesting!
Wildcard: Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid (August 30)
I love when an author pulls a character from a previous book and builds something a story around her! Carrie Soto from last summer’s big hit, Malibu Rising has her own story coming out in August and I am here for it!! Taylor Jenkins Reid is such an amazing writer, I’m so excited to read her latest.
Happy reading, friends!
I also wanted to add to your list — the third book in the American Royals series comes out May 31st!! <3
