Buckle up, this is a long one!
So before we get into all things CBD, I want to first start off by caveating three things:
- If this subject isn’t for you, that is totally fine!! You do what is comfortable for YOU, end of story.
- I am NOT a doctor, counselor, or psychiatrist. If you are experiencing anxiety you SHOULD talk to someone first. CBD is not a bandaid for deeper issues and anxiety is not something to joke about or to be taken lightly. Take care of yourself. You AND your feelings are important.
- Definition of CBD: CBD is a natural ingredient found within industrial hemp flowers. It is clinically proven to impact mental and physical well-being, when taken properly and consistently. And yes, CBD is completely safe and legal in all 50 states. It is a powerful health agent, but there is no discernible impairment (no high!). – Equilibria
My Experience with CBD
Okay… now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about my experience with CBD, shall we?!
I had been hearing about CBD and its benefits for a few years, but it wasn’t until 2018 when I experienced CBD first hand. I, like most of you, can at times struggle with high levels of anxiety. Over the years I have learned how to manage it through countless hours in a counseling office. I am HUGE proponent of counseling. I’m on the forever counseling plan (Ryan and I talk a ton about this on the podcast we did with The Knot), and recommend it to anyone and everyone. It’s exercise for the heart and it’s just good for the soul. But it wasn’t until Ryan and I were sitting in the chemo room in 2018 when CBD started to become something that I was actively looking into.
One afternoon after a particularly grueling chemo treatment a friend of ours dropped off a bottle of CBD oil for Ryan on our door step. She said she had heard that it may helpful with the side effects of chemo and at that point we were exhausted and DESPERATE for anything that would work. So he tried it, but it really did not have much of an effect. ha! He put a few drops under his tongue and we both just sat there looking at each other waiting… anything? do you feel ANYTHING? Nope, nothing… it was clear he needed something MUCH stronger, so I handed him his prescription nausea medicine and put him to bed. I didn’t think twice about the unused CBD in our medicine cabinet until a few weeks later.
…. A few weeks later we got some scary news that Ryan’s cancer may have spread (praise Jesus it was all a false alarm!), and there would need to be more scans, biopsies, and surgeries to learn more. And that’s when I started to shake. Guys, it was crazy. I started to shake and could not stop. It was such a weird and scary feeling. I was handling my anxiety the best I knew how, and with professionals, but the tremor was absolutely nuts. I couldn’t stop shaking for over two weeks. I would wake up with a tremor and go to sleep with one… my nerves were shot (apparently) and literally nothing was helping until I remembered that little bottle of CBD in the medicine cabinet.
At this point I was willing to try anything. I needed to stop trembling so I could be a functioning human. After two weeks of no-stop shaking I was just exhausted. I put a few drops under my tongue one morning on a whim and a prayer, ha, and went back to work. A few hours later Ryan walked in the room to ask me how I was feeling and I realized I had stopped shaking and hadn’t even noticed. I HAD STOPPED SHAKING. It was a miracle. I felt NOTHING, no “side effect”, no nothing. My shaking had apparently just melted away while I wasn’t paying attention. Honestly, I was SO thankful that I started to tear up. Since that day in December of 2018 I’ve been a believer in the health benefits of CBD.
I realize this is a very LONG-WINDED story about something that seems like a “vitamin” now, but I wanted you to know from someone who has suffered through periods of extraordinary anxiety and the benefits I’ve seen from it. Especially spoken through the lens of someone who was very skeptical!
For me, CBD has helped soften the edges of anxiety, helped me fall asleep and STAY asleep (I’m a terrible sleeper… always have been!), soothed cramps, and has overall been extremely beneficial for my mental and physical health. I am such a believer in the value of CBD.
So Let’s Talk Equilibria CBD:
I had been using CBD from a health food store for the past year when Equilibria reached out to me to see if I was interested in trying their product. I JUMPED at the idea because I was already a believer in CBD and had heard so many good things about their product line. So I said yes on the spot and have been using Equilibria for the past two months regularly. I can say without a doubt that I am a huge fan.
Using Equilibria for the past two months regularly and I can say without a doubt that I am a huge fan.
I was sent the Brilliance Box to try and test out all of their products, and if you are interested in trying them, I would say this is totally the way to go!
The Brilliance Box includes:
- Daily Drops 300mg/30ml (10mg CBD per full 1ml dropper)
- Daily Softgels (10mg CBD each, 30 count)
- Relief Cream (500mg CBD per 1oz jar)

After using all of these items over the past few months I will say that I have really benefited from the Relief Cream. Oh my gosh, it literally melts cramps away. Honestly, ladies, it’s ABSOLUTELY incredible. And the Daily Drops I use at night to help me sleep more soundly, especially in high-stress seasons. Those two are by far my favorite of their three products!
But the thing I love the most about Equilibria is the support that they give you. CBD can be confusing, and take it from someone who was definitely freaked out by the idea for a long time. Having someone on their team that can help you through the products and dosing is incredible. I would HIGHLY recommend speaking to their Dosing Specialist after you oder just for peace of mind if nothing else!
ALLLLLL of that to say, I do think CBD is incredibly beneficial, and for me it definitely softens the sharp edges of anxiety, something I think we are all experiencing a bit of at this time. So hopefully, if nothing else, my experience will be helpful for you!
Quick CBD Q&A:
Equilibria has so many great resources, so if you are looking for more answers, you can check out their Q+A page! But here are a few questions that I’ve been getting over and over…
Do you prefer the drops or capsules?
Drops for sure! I just feel like they work best for me and my body!
Does it help you fall asleep?!
YES! It doesn’t “knock you out” like NyQuil or something like that. For me, it just helps calm me down enough to fall asleep. I’ve ALWAYS had trouble sleeping ever since I was a little. My mom would even spray lavender on my pillow to try to help me sleep. So I can with out a doubt say that this really, really helps.
How do you even know where to start?! It’s all so confusing.
Schedule a call with Equilibria’s dosing specialist. I can not stress this enough, they are SO helpful.
Does CBD help with PMS?
Oh girl, YES. The Relief Cream is absolutely unbelievable for cramps.
How long until you notice a difference?
Well, it depends. The cream is fairly quick… similar to tiger balm. But the drops, if they are working well, you won’t really “notice” any difference in the way you feel. It’s just a subtle reduction of anxiety over time… does that make sense?! At least that has been my experience!

Do the drops taste horrible? I have a fairly sensitive gag reflex to certain tastes (ie: can’t take cough syrup) so I’m curious if the taste is pleasant or not. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Katie! I haven’t tried the flavored ones yet, so I’m looking forward to doing that, but the original isn’t that bad! It doesn’t taste GOOD but I don’t think it’s bad! I just wash it down with water! xx
Do you use cbd daily? Or
Just as needed? Thank you
Daily! And as needed!
Drops at night to sleep, and extra drops during the day if needed. Plus the cream for sore muscles and cramps!
Thank you
You are so welcome! xx
This was very interesting and informative…..a subject I’ve wondered about. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hi Jane!! I’m so glad this post was helpful!
