Desk Obsessed: Amy Beth Cupp Dragoo

This week’s Desk Obsessed features the lovely and talented Amy from ABCD Designs. Amy is one of my very favorite people, not only is she CRAZY talented (designer, chef, florist….) but she is beyond sweet! We meet 3 years ago in NYC (she helped my husband propose!) and have been fast friends ever since!! So as you can imagine I am thrilled to have Amy over, so to speak! And of course we left nothing out, from pens to snacks to music, we’ve got the dish on Amy’s desk! Hope you enjoy!

Is your desk more OCD organized or artistically organized chaos?

I am a Virgo, so my desk is ultra organized and clean.

Are there snacks or treats within arms reach of your desk? What are they?

I combine dried fruit and nuts in a vintage tea cup. A tea cup full is just enough to quench my appetite. I like to have either apricots, sour cherries or prunes with walnuts. Sometimes I splurge with roasted, salted pistachios or Spanish Marcona Almonds. If it is later in the afternoon, Italian Green Olives and artisanal cheese replace the dried fruit and the nuts remain a staple. I also whip up whole wheat scones and muffins a few times a week, so there are always fresh nibbles around that are delicious with a smear of Kozee Peanut Butter, or French sea-salted butter on top. My favorite glass to drink out of is the Waterford Roly Poly. It fits in my palm perfectly, and either has water or chianti in it depending upon the time of day.

What are you listening to at your desk these days? If you prefer to work in silence, is there a song or album that’s gets your juices flowing when you’re stuck in a rut?

I may be late to the Pandora bandwagon, but I love the Joni Mitchell station. I love listening to classical music: Haydn is my favorite composer. I also listen to NPR, sometimes mindlessly.

I have also been a fan of plain old papermate flair red felt tip pens – as long as I am writing on unlined spiral bound white sketchbook paper, I am good to go

What 3 Things on your desk keep you on track and inspired?

My favorite photos in Jay Strongwater frames.

Fresh, seasonal flowers – I am always attracted to orange, red and yellow ones!

My collage sketchbook – I can’t help it. I am old school. Even though I have a blog and photoshop, I like the physicality of cutting paper with an x-acto knife and making collages with rubber cement and magazine tears.
