The Viscount Who Loved Me would be perfect for this group – a strong female lead with Kate with some spice in the novel and they have the historical element they were incorporating into their selections.

I love Annie’s second chance at love. No one deserves to walk in on their husband cheating on them in their co-owned restaurant. I also loved the little cafe Annie opened. Reinventing yourself is so hard and Annie did it flawlessly.

John of course!! Annie’s husband did not deserve a second chance – but Annie deserved the happiness she found with John.

I would love for them to discuss Pride and Prejudice! Especially since there were a few similarities between John and Mr. Darcy….

I would also have to say Annie’s second chance at opening a business. Loved how we got to see how business-savvy she was and how much she cared about keeping the cafe around for the community!

Always team John!!! I definitely cheered out loud when Annie literally mopped her husband!

  3. One of the funniest parts of this book to me was Annie’s book club in Willow Bay. What book would you recommend to their book club?

My favorite book of 2021 was The Music of Bees which I have recommended to two other book clubs and anyone else who asked-ha! It’s a great story about starting over and finding purpose again which fits perfectly into Annie’s stage of life as well as some of the other ladies in the group.

Annie having a second chance at building a restaurant was my favorite story line. She was so passionate about it and the way she brought new life into an old building was so fun.

    3. Annie is being wooed by her husband and is increasingly attracted to John in this novel. Were you hoping she would end up with one of them or neither of them?
I definitely didn’t want her to end back up with her husband because his apologies didn’t seem genuine, but I wasn’t totally sold on John either. I’d like to think John continued to grow as a character after the story ended.

    • 1. I loved their book club so much! I would like to have them read Frankenstein – a moody gothic read and written by a woman to boot!

      2. My favorite was Annie’s second chance at a small cafe her way! She built it up and renovated the space on her own, relied on her own relationships and network to garner customers, and was in charge of the menu herself. She literally did it without Max: without him by her side, AND without any of her money she made while they were together.

      3. The enemies to lovers in this book felt slightly forced, especially how John and Annie immediately fought every time they were near each other at first!

  4. 1. One of the funniest parts of this book to me was Annie’s book club in Willow Bay. What book would you recommend to their book club?

I thought this book club was hysterical! I loved the hodgepodge of personalities and the true friendship! Honestly I think they’d love one of our Book Club picks from this past year: “The Break-Up Book Club” by Wendy Wax.

    2. I love that the title of this book features second chances because the story is full of them. Which ‘second chance’ is your favorite?

Oh, for SURE Annie restarting her little cozy cafe and restaurant. I was slow clapping for her throughout that entire storyline! LOVED watching her shine.

    3. Annie is being wooed by her husband and is increasingly attracted to John in this novel. Were you hoping she would end up with one of them or neither of them?

    Team John.

    • 1. The book club was a fun part of this book! They liked the classics, so I would suggest A Tree Grows In Brooklyn or Wuthering Heights.

      2. Agree that reopening the tea room was exciting. Also loved that she went to a new town to totally recreate her new life.

      3. John for sure!!

      Absolutely loved this selection!!
