Milkmaid Braids Made Easy

I’m all about a good tutorial, but sometimes they’re too hard with too many steps…

It just needs it to be simple but impactful, and this tutorial is just that! Easy, and fun! Also, I really love this hairstyle for Fall.  Just imagine this adorable braid situation on your Fall apple picking trip. You are going to be adorable, I promise!

A Few Notes:

  1. If you have fine hair like me, then you need to thicken it up! I used L’Oreal Volume Filler Densifying Gelee & Blow Dry It Extender Spray… both work like magic!
  2. You will need clear elastic bands, and of course hair-matching bobby pins!
  3. It’s okay if it’s a bit messy… messy is good!

Now that you have that down, let’s get started!

Step 1. Volume Filler

I have thick hair, but it’s REALLY fine and slippery, it barely holds a curl, let alone a braid. So L’Oreal Volume Filler Densifying Gelee gives my hair both texture and height!

I just run it through my wet hair before I blow dry, and it works like magic… just wait till you see!

Step 2. Blow Dry It

The more texture, the better! Seriously! After I blow out my hair, I spray it down with a dry shampoo. L’Oreal’s Blow Dry It is awesome and works wonders for extra texture!

Step 3: Look at your volume!

… see, I told you! MAGIC!

Step 4: Pigtails

Separate your hair into two pigtails, one on each side, then start a low french braid on one of them!

Make sure you don’t skip the french braid part. If you just do a regular braid, a lot of the times it looks a little wonky… which is not the look we are going for.

Repeat for the other side.

Step 5: Secure it!

Now it’s time to get this braid into place. Flip one braid over and secure it to the crown of your head, then do the same with the other side.

Make sure once you get to the top that you either take out your rubber bands and or hide them… you definitely don’t want those showing!

Step 6: Fly Aways

And lastly, it’s time to pull out a few fly-aways to frame your face and just to “messy” it up a bit!

Then, spray it down with your favorite hair spray and you are good to go!

Step 7: Show it off!

Snap me and let me know if you try this tutorial out, I’m dying to see your handiwork! And remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect… You can do it!
