Grown-up Back to School Shopping List on

It’s Time!

It’s around this time each year that I start craving school supplies! I was never a big fan of school, but ALWAYS a fan of back-to-school shopping, ha. And every August, without fail, I find myself wandering down the school supply isle looking for the perfect pen that will change my life.

Tell me I’m not the only one!!

Today I’m rounding up my favorite grown-up back to school supplies that you can totally and 100% get away with indulging in whether you’re a stay at home mom, commuting to your first job right out of college, working from home, or crushing that boss lady life.

Whatever your day-to-day looks like, I’m pretty sure a pack of new highlighters and a fancy new “grown-up” back pack will make you feel like Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail, bouncing through NYC dreaming of freshly sharpened pencils.

A Very Important Gown-up School Supply List

Backpack – I’m such a fan of my Cuyana Backpack, but Draper James just launched their leather backpacks this past week and they are adorable and a little more affordable! Can’t get enough!

Ember Coffee Mug – How annoying am I about this coffee mug!? It may be all I talk about, but I can’t help it. Seriously, it’s amazing. And nothing says back-to-school like a temperature controlled mug.

Corkcicle Lunch Box – Corkcicle just launched a new line of lunch boxes and they are so good!! I love a good lunch box since I am practically always packing snacks wherever I go! I love that they made these look like handbags… so many fun styles and colors to choose from. Obsessed.

Pastel Highlighters – I talked about these over on stories earlier this week, but they are that awesome. These are the perfect highlighters and worth every single penny. Not too dark, not too light, and all the “good” colors.

Custom Stationery – I am and always will be on ‘team stationery’. I love snail mail more than what is probably normal for a person, but you can NEVER go wrong with a hand written note! Custom stationery can be very expensive, but after a little digging on Etsy, I came across these and they’re darling! A set of 10 for $18 is a total steal!

Personalized Journal – I’m an avid journal-er and do it every single morning. It’s my favorite time of day, truthfully! And there is nothing I love more than scooping up a new journal. I just found this Etsy site that does these GORGEOUS personalized journals for under $20. I’m obsessed. They come in tons of colors – so worth it!!

Blue Light Blocking Glasses – I don’t have a pair of these, but Ryan SWEARS by his. He says they make all the difference. I found this adorable pair (comes in tons of colors!) and think I’ll finally give them a try! If you’re looking for something more customizable, Warby Parker has great (but pricier) options too.

Fancy Pen – I typically like a cheap ballpoint pen. Like the ones companies get in bulk with their logos on them… those are my favorite! I’m constantly accidentally taking the pens home from church on Sunday, because they are JUST too good (I’m not sure what that says about me ;)). But a few months ago a friend gave me a fancy pen and I kinda fell in love with it! If you’re looking to step up your pen game, look no further.

  1. This post makes my heart so happy! Yes to all the above! Do Powersheets count as homework? Can’t wait to get these highlighters in hand!!!

  2. I saw a dad and his daughter walking into Office Depot…not gonna lie. I was a little jealous. Seriously, don’t even know if she was buying school supplies, just a strong assumption ha, but I am pretty sure 16 year olds walking into a school supply store the night before school starts can only mean one thing. SCHOOL SUPPLY shopping ha!

  3. This post is so perfect! I LOVE all of these items! Thank you for rounding them up for us! So pretty, so functional!! What more can a girl want?

  4. I am ALL ABOUT THIS POST! I 100% get excited for back to school time and look out for the B2S section in Target to peruse before all the B2S shoppers plow through them. Always leaving with one or two items that I don’t need but NEED, if you know what I mean. Even as an adult, having cute pens, notebooks etc make work a little more fun and brighten up my day. I will be keeping an eye out for those highlighters!

  5. Oh we are so together on this. I love checking out back to school products. And those highlighters??? I have to get them. Sometimes they are too dark and make what you highlighted hard to read! Pastel sounds perfect. (anything with colors!!!). I saw some great leather backpacks at TJ Maxx just last night. And yes, I will be getting one! Hope all is well with you and Ryan! 🙂
