I’m All About An Accessory!

I’ve always been into hair accessories. In high school I kept a record in my planner of how I wore my hair each day so I wouldn’t “repeat” a style within a week. I know, commence the eye roll and judging, but hey, it was very important stuff back then. Needless to say, I had to get creative with my hairdos! I had jars full of ribbons, barrettes, headbands…you name it I had it!

These days I don’t grab the hair accessories as often as I once did, but after I cut 4 inches off my hair this summer I found myself dusting off a few of my favorites and starting to experiment again!

…And now, I’m happy to say that my two day hair look almost always includes some hair accessory and a whole lotta dry shampoo.  I’m deep diving back into the hair accessory rabbit hole and have been ordering scarves and barrettes like a mad woman! So today I’m sharing with you what I’ve had my eye on lately.

But first, Dry Shampoo

The key to keeping hair accessories in your hair and not sliding all over the place, especially if you have fine hair like mine, is a good dry shampoo! And friends, I’ve found THE ONE you need.

Living Proof Dry Shampoo

This is my new obsession. I have tried a million dry shampoos, like so very very many, but Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo takes the cake. I am without a doubt obsessed with this stuff.

If you haven’t tried it, pleassseeee tell me you will! I promise you will love it!

My 5 Favorite Hair Accessories

From barrettes to ribbons to scarves, these are my go-to hair accessories of the moment, and a couple I currently have in my shopping cart! 😉

Gold Bow Barrette

I’ve had this little bow barrette for about a year now, and I’ve got to be honest with you, I wear it almost daily. It’s one of my favorite go-to accessories. Sweet, subtle, and feminine. Pictured in my hair above.

Mesh Headband

I recently pulled out my giant cookie jar full of headbands and found some real gems in there! But I also realized quite a few of them needed an update.

This mesh striped one is so pretty and I love how you’d be able to see your hair color through the lines!

Silk Scarf

I absolutely love wearing scarves in my hair and my sister recently inspired me to start doing it more often – she the head scarf QUEEN.

Isn’t this one so pretty?! And the price point is unbeatable. Perfect for Fall.

Gingham Bow

I have this one in velvet from last year and I wore the heck out of it. I’m thinking this gingham one needs to be in my vanity ASAP!

Also, to all my Southern girls, wouldn’t this be so cute in your ponytail for College Football Game Day?!

  1. I 100% kept a journal of each outfit I wore in high school so as not to repeat them… You are not alone. Also, Living Proof is the best! I have their instant de-frizz dry conditioner. I have super thick curly hair and it is a LIFESAVER!! I also am all over that gingham bow for my gameday Saturdays; I take clients to Tennessee games as part of my job in Knoxville, TN, and I think that is the CUTEST idea to keep it professional but fun and flirty! Thank you for sharing!!

  2. So I recently purchased a head scarf from H&M because I have seen a few IGers post pics with them and I thought they look so cute! I haven’t worn it yet but hoping it looks as good on me as it does in those pictures!

  3. Please give some tutorials from you and the Scarf Queen on how to wear scarves in your hair! I just bought a couple of gorgeously patterned ones but they’re enormous and I feel like I either look like a granny, in 1950s poodle-skirt girl costume, or a try-hard when I try to wear them (orrrr they’re just all bunchy and too thick to do anything), so haaaalp! Love that bow clip but I feel like it would slip plum out of my hair immediately!
