Discussion Questions
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
1.
Because this book gives off major Hallmark movie vibes, I’d love to know who you would cast as Alexis and Daniel.
2.
Alexis is really charmed by Daniel’s small town life, even though it’s completely different than the life she’s been living. Does Daniel’s life appeal to you? Or would you prefer Alexis’s big city situation?
3.
Did you have a favorite sweet, funny, or turning point moment in Alexis and Daniel’s story?

This was my ALL TIME FAVORITE Ashley Brooke Book club pick!!
1. Would love to see an Anne Hathaway type actress play Alexis, in my head she was tall and sophisticated. To match the hair color I could also see Jessica Chastain fitting the bill. All book main characters are Henry Cavill in my mind. Haha! It doesn’t matter the character’s description in the book I always picture Henry…so sticking with him as Daniel
2. I am a small town girl at heart but the convenience of suburban life has a hold on me. I totally see the appeal of the small town, know your neighbors type of living situation!
3. I loved anytime the goat in pajamas was mentioned.
My favorite little touch was every time Alexis would steal Daniel’s hoodie to feel closer to him when she was away.
I was absolutely gutted when he came to the hospital to support her and Alexis didn’t defend him the way she should have. When Daniel rented the tux to support her on her big night it was the happily ever after moment they deserved. I loved it.
I love this book and am so happy it was chosen so others could read it too and know how good it is! The best!
1. Im thinking of Emily VanCamp (Revenge/The Resident) or Stana Katic (Kate Beckett in Castle) for suiting a high energy/attentive Type A nursing profession like Alexis’. And I was honestly picturing like a Garrett Hedlund or Luke Benward for Daniel.
2. Same as everyone else, I like both! Living in a smaller town but close enough to big City for amenities and activities that’s aren’t too far away but still removed from busy everyday life!
3. Ok so when they are fighting at the B&B and the weather turns bad because the town/location wants them together, and once they’re good the weather’s back to normal. I swear it was textbook hallmark non-tangible character in the best way. Served as such a sweet “element” 😉 in encouraging their relationship!

STOP. Yes, Gabrielle! Love the idea of a young Debrah Messing. Totally.

Can I say both!? I love the idea of town & country… and the option of going back and forth. I know that’s not really an answer but, you know what I mean, right?! Weekends spent in the country, and nights out in the city.
3.
Did you have a favorite sweet, funny, or turning point moment in Alexis and Daniel’s story?
So many, but I love their first real interaction at the bar. The banter was so well written!
1. Would LOVE to see this as a movie!! Ashton Kutcher & Reese Witherspoon?
2. I’m also a middle girl.
Love the suburbs of a big city – I enjoy going into the “big” city for sports, restaurants & shopping. It’s also fun to check out a small town for a day as many have such darling downtowns.
3. Honestly loved the entire story. Abby is a FABULOUS author. If you enjoyed this selection, read her book The Happy Ever After Playlist.
Excited to see what you pick for December Ashley!
1. Because this book gives off major Hallmark movie vibes, I’d love to know who you would cast as Alexis and Daniel.
Ohhhh…this is a great question. I pictured Daniel as a Chris Evans type (even though I know in the book he’s about 10 years younger than CE is now…he could still pull it off-ha). For Alexis I’m thinking maybe Katie Holmes…maybe also not current time period, but she’s poised, beautiful and smart like I pictured the character.
2. Alexis is really charmed by Daniel’s small town life, even though it’s completely different than the life she’s been living. Does Daniel’s life appeal to you? Or would you prefer Alexis’s big city situation?
I’m definitely a somewhere in the middle girl. My husband is from a really small town and that doesn’t appeal to me, but big city life doesn’t either. I prefer a tight knit neighborhood with access to big city amenities when we want them.
3. Did you have a favorite sweet, funny, or turning point moment in Alexis and Daniel’s story?
The fact that he rented the tux and came to the gala was the sweetest moment of their relationship for me, but my overarching favorite theme of the book was the repeated refrain “grace costs nothing.” What a beautiful reminder that applies to so many circumstances.

Oh that’s such a good question. I kind of see like a young Debra Messing and maybe like Alex Pettyfer
2. Alexis is really charmed by Daniel’s small town life, even though it’s completely different than the life she’s been living. Does Daniel’s life appeal to you? Or would you prefer Alexis’s big city situation?
The idea of a small town always sounds great to me as someone who lives in a big city. But I would need someone (like Daniel) to keep me there. I don’t think I would prefer the big city situation Alexis is in though.
3. Did you have a favorite sweet, funny, or turning point moment in Alexis and Daniel’s story?
I think a big turning point was when Alexis and her “friends” stayed at the BnB. It really shifted her perspective on who she was surrounding herself with. I also love that she helped sell some of his pieces and spoke up when her friend was just plain rude.
