May’s Book Club Pick

We just adore author Emily Henry so much…

Hello, May! I’ve been so excited about this month’s pick. I read an advanced copy of this book last month and by chapter one I just knew it was the book for us. I hope you love it just as much as I did! And I can’t wait to hear your thoughts all month about this sweet tale full of friendship and romance.

Emily Henry’s books never fail to deliver on the romance and in her interview on Good Morning America (watch here) she says she “writes for a lot of the same reasons that I read… I want to see what happens!” I just love that.

Emily’s book usually have us guessing throughout the story of the will-they-won’t-they tug between characters and her latest definitely delivers… that emotional rollercoaster is very present! The premise of Happy Place is this:

Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t. They broke up five months ago… and still haven’t told their best friends. Which is how they find themselves sharing a bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts. After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week…in front of those who know you best?

I mean, talk about will-they-won’t-they! You guys, Happy Place was so good and I fell in love with the big cast of characters as they navigated their changing dynamics. Not to mention what Harriet and Wyn will ultimately decide about each other.

We’ve chosen an Emily Henry book perviously, People We Meet On Vacation, which was definitely a crowd pleaser. Her books belong on every summer read list… they really are the perfect beach reads! (Speaking of, did you read Beach Read… her debut novel? SO good!)
