Okay, confession. I feel like almost every single night of the week we are reaching for wine glasses or a cocktail shaker, because WHAT DAY IS IT EVEN?! Ha! We are by no means out of hand, but I feel like an adult beverage every night just seems aggressive… you know?! But what I’ve realized that it’s not just the alcohol that I look forward to, it’s the “fancy drink”.

I have a cup of coffee in the morning and a 3:00pm espresso, both things that I SERIOUSLY look forward to. I mean I go to bed thinking about my morning cup of coffee, and after lunch I count down the hours till the espresso. Again, it’s not necessarily the caffeine (I’m happy with decaf in the afternoon!) but it’s the ritual, the fancy drink, and same goes for that 7:00 pm hour.

Once the clock hits around 5, I start thinking about what cocktail we will have… because other than my two coffees, I am only drinking water, and LOTS OF IT. So I get excited about switching it up. I need little things to look forward to throughout the day.

Anyway, I got to thinking about it and said, WAIT A MINUTE… what if I swapped out the cocktail for a healthy mocktail?! Would I be just as excited about it?! And you know what, the answer is Y-E-S! Now, don’t get me wrong I’ll spike the heck out of this thing come Friday night, but for most nights, a fancy mocktail is more than perfect!

So here’s what I’ve learned about the process of making the mocktail. Much like cooking, it’s just good to do something with your hands after a long day in front of a screen! Get creative and try out new ingredients…. Do you have strawberries? throw them in, why the heck not?!

So, I thought it would be fun to share with you our new favorite mocktail/cocktail recipe that is fresh, healthy, and something that your whole family can look forward to!

Fresh Cranberry Lime Mocktail/Cocktail

1 oz. Cranberry Juice

1/2 oz. Lime Juice

1/2 oz Lemon Juice

1/2 can of Lime Soda Water

2 tsp. of Maple Syrup or Agave

OPTIONAL : 1-2 oz of Tequilla

Directions: mix all ingredients together, serve over ice, and top with lemon slice or fresh fruit!

*Note – Fresh lime and lemon juice is best, but our stores have been out… so I’ve been getting bottled, and it works just as well!

Do you have any favorite mocktail recipes that you’ve been whipping up?! I’d love to hear!

  1. Also pregnant, it’s really tough being sober in a pandemic!! I like getting multi-flavor packs of sparkling water, it keeps things more interesting than going through 12 cans of a single flavor. I’ll add whatever garnishes I’ve got to make it feel fancy… berries, cucumber slices, mint, anything goes!

  2. Thanks for that yummy sounding mocktail- I’m due to be induced next Tuesday and that sounds so refreshing I added those ingredients to my cart for groceries tomorrow!

  3. I love this post! I feel the same way, it’s definitely become a ritual for my husband and I as well. One thing we’ve been doing lately to curb the cocktails is putting kombucha in a stemless wine glass or champagne flute with dinner, to make it “fancy”!
