Monday Morning Musings | No. 217
It was simple, sweet, and celebratory…
It was *such* a good weekend and last night I was laying in bed just thinking, “Well, that was really fun!”
On Friday night we ordered takeout from our favorite taco place, which was the perfect ending to a very busy week! Saturday we spent the morning having coffee in bed while Laurens just giggled and cooed… it was so sweet and what I want every Saturday morning to feel like!
Then I spent the rest of the day crafting and baking, which felt like HEAVEN. I haven’t really baked, besides muffins, since Laurens was born so it felt good to get back in the kitchen that way! The cake turned out really cute too (see here and make sure you swipe!) and it was delicious. I baked the recipe I featured in my Saturday newsletter and it turned out amazing… but then again, this recipe never steers me wrong.
On Saturday evening we had friends over for a casual birthday celebration for Ryan and we did make-your-own pizza, martinis, and CAKE! We seriously had *so* much fun… at one point we looked at the clock and realized it was past midnight and the ice cream I’d forgotten to put away had melted… sign of a *very* good time!
Then to top off the weekend, we packed up on Sunday morning and headed to the Oxford Exchange for Ryan’s birthday brunch. It was Laurens’s first time to OE and it all felt *so* special to be there with him. I can’t believe we were married there almost (next month!) EIGHT years ago! Feels like both yesterday and a lifetime ago. We spent the afternoon brunching, champagne-ing, browsing books, and sipping lattes. It was an absolute dream of a day and Laurens loved every second of it, which made it even more fun. Plus, we were finally able to give Ryan the card we had worked so hard on (see here, it’s hysterical!).
Anyway, it was a really good one and I want a million more like it… simple, sweet and celebratory!
Okay, now that I’ve totally caught you up on our weekend, let’s get into the five things I’m loving right now…
