Monday Morning Musings | No. 231
Full on festive over here…
Hi!! Happy Monday to you, I hope you enjoyed your holiday week and weekend! We honestly had the best Thanksgiving week… it was slow (I even took a nap on Thanksgiving Day!), festive, and extra memorable.
Laurens got the biggest kick out of the parade and seeing family, plus I’ll never forget tucking him into bed before Thanksgiving dinner. Watching his little chubby cheeks on the monitor while we ate pumpkin pie will forever be a core memory for me.
We were able to spend time with both my family and Ryan’s, plus get in some good time at home where we cleaned out closets (praise the Lord!), decorated for Christmas, and just cozied up as a family of three (four, plus Dolly!). Truly these last four days have been some of my favorites.
I think I may have said this last week, but I have to keep saying it for my own sake, too! My main goal for this season is to *not* be hurried. This is SO hard for me… I tend to fill our calendars to THE BRIM with activities, parties, and festive opportunities, which ends up running us all ragged (whoops!). So this year, I am making a point to really (seriously!!) SLOW down.
I want time to sit in the moment and take in the memory as it’s actually happening. For instance, last night I read Laurens a Christmas book while he splashed around in the tub for longer than usual, and I didn’t have that on any holiday to-do calendar or festive check list. It was just the two of us reading books about silly trucks getting Christmas gifts and I’ll always remember it. His giggle, the splashing, the first Christmas book! My heart.
I mean don’t get me wrong, do I have an outfit picked out for meeting Santa? ABSOLUTELY. Do I have cookie swaps (the best recipe!), festive trips, holiday parties, and craft nights already booked? 100%. Did I hem and haw over the stamps (landed on these!) for our holiday cards? Of course. But I also want to fight hard for lots of space this season for slow evenings like last night. The normal moments between all the merriment are really the best ones.
Okay, now that I’ve totally caught you up on our allllllll the things, let’s get into the five things I’m loving right now…
5 Things I’m Loving
A few new obsessions…
Our Espresso Machine is 20% off!
I talk about this espresso machine a lot (full review here!), and truthfully we use it every day, twice a day. It is an investment, I can truthfully say it’s actually saved us so much money, because I can make a better latte at home. I cannot recommend this machine enough! If you are splurging on a kitchen appliance this season, make it this.
the most beautiful Wreaths
We are going full-on boxwood this year, and I practically have a wreath hanging off of every window and mirror at this point. They are everywhere! So while I was doing a little online shopping I came across this Etsy shop, which is boxwood heaven. But also…. I am LOVING this Green Leaf Candle Wreath. It’s stunning!
$16 Christmas Tree
I ordered this tiny little 25″ table top Christmas tree for Laurens room with a very low expectation, and y’all it’s so cute I can’t stand it. It’s the tiniest little tree for his tiny little room! Also, he L-O-V-E-S it! We’ve already hung lights and added ornaments. It’s too much. I can’t wait to show you!
