Monday Morning Musings | No. 252

It was the best party weekend…

We had the absolute BEST weekend celebrating our little one-year-old! On Friday night, while putting Laurens to bed, neither of us could make it through his bedtime story or songs with out tears running down our cheeks! It felt like such a monumental moment… but the sight of our tears made him burst into fits of giggles, making the moment all that more memorable and sweet. Definitely one of those bedtimes I’ll never forget.

Once we tucked him in, we pulled ourselves together! We made dinner, and spent the rest of the evening cleaning, baking, and getting the house ready for the big day.

And on Saturday morning we woke up as parents of a one-year-old! WILD.

We went to breakfast just the three of us and stayed at the table longer than usual just sipping our lattes and sharing our favorite memories of the year. Ugh, too many, we hand to finally cut ourselves off! On our way back we picked up the balloons and a few other last minute party things before our family started to arrive.

We fired up the bubble machine, changed into our party outfits, and proceeded to have one of my favorite days of all time! It was simple and sweet, and our house and backyard were packed with loved ones! Laurens never stopped smiling, was more interested in a soccer ball than the cake, and was on the receiving end of one million cousin kisses. Truly couldn’t have asked for a better day.

And on Sunday after church we set up his big gift (a water table!) and spent the entire day in the yard playing! Truly was exactly what I’d hoped for. I’m so grateful for this past weekend… and YEAR.

Now that I’ve totally caught you up on our celebration weekend, let’s get into the five things I’m loving right now, because guys, Mother’s Day is NEXT WEEKEND and we have more celebrating to do

5 Things I’m Loving

A few new obsessions…

1.

Printable Menu

I love the idea of making Mother’s Day Brunch extra special with fancy menus! I found these (and these!) on Etsy and just think they are so fun. Such a great and inexpensive way to step things up!

2.

Twisted Top

This twisted top is just so beautiful and classic, and reminds me of something Elizabeth James would wear from The Parent Trap. It comes in a beautiful white too! Both would be sunning with these pants (you know how I feel about Mango’s pants see here and here), don’t you think?!

Citronella, but pretty

I LOVE these *pretty* Citronella candles from Target! We have a few from last year and we use them ALL the time. But I’m loving the updated wicker design this year. These are such good finds and fun “Happy Summer” gift!

Roses for Mom!

I’ve been a longtime fan of Grace’s roses! They are truly some of the most beautiful roses I’ve ever seen, and they smell like HEAVEN. If you are looking for flowers to send to the women in your life this Mother’s Day, look no further.

The O.G. Foundation

I’ve been using Luminous Silk foundation for years and years (shade 4) but recently ran out! I’ve been on a major Iconic skin tint kick, but was in need of some actual foundation so I placed a re-order, and gosh, if this isn’t the best foundation in the game then I don’t know what is.
