Low-key and lovely…

I just sat down to write today’s blog post, and oh my gosh, these days are flying by! Mornings are a whirlwind of nursing, naps, meal prepping, playtime, monster truck ramp building, chasing after little a toddler, and endless laundry folding! Not to mention all the other things like work and, you know, life. Last night I told myself I’d stay up late to get today’s post written, but I ended up falling asleep with my laptop. I’m giving myself a lot of grace these days because this season is so sweet and fleeting… but also, exhausting!

Anyway, this weekend was everything I hoped for in a rainy September weekend! Ryan and I celebrated our ten-year wedding anniversary, which still feels surreal—I can’t believe it’s been that long. Last year, for our ninth anniversary, we started planning a big trip to mark the tenth, but then we found out about Juliet’s summer arrival and we realized we had far more to celebrate. So instead we opted for a wonderfully low-key night. We snuck out for drinks and dinner, spending five uninterrupted hours together before heading back home to our babies. Honestly, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate. It was perfect!

The rest of the weekend was spent tackling house chores and cleaning up. We moved into the new house at the beginning of June, but having a baby a few weeks after the move and a major renovation, we’re still not fully settled. So any spare time we get, we tinker with the house. I long for the day when all the boxes are unpacked and we have art on the walls, but again, grace. What’s the rush, anyway?

One of the fun things about still having random boxes around is that every now and then when you open one, it feels like a surprise! We finally found our board games, which led to a fun Sunday night with friends. There’s nothing quite like burgers on the new grill and a few rounds of Yahtzee!
