Monday Morning Musings | No. 396

This and that…

Hi, hi!

Popping in to give you a little weekend rundown. We ordered pizza Friday night, got in our PJs, and watched The Magic School Bus, and honestly, it was so fun. After the kids went to bed, Ryan and I finally started the new season of Ted Lasso. I fell asleep, naturally, but the few minutes I saw was really cute.

Saturday morning we took things slow. A girlfriend had so sweetly dropped off a fresh loaf of sourdough, so I made French toast, bacon, and eggs, and then we met a bunch of friends at the park. We came home for turkey BLTs and naps, and then just kind of tinkered around the house.

Ryan has been rerouting electrical to make room for our new breakfast nook, so the house was a MESS. Like, huge chunks of drywall missing, wires everywhere, construction dust in every direction. Trying to keep two little kids entertained inside while it poured rain was… less than ideal. Ha! I absolutely should have packed us up and headed to the library, but by the time that occurred to me, we were already in it. Oh well!

Sunday after church, we had promised the kids a treat at our favorite little coffee shop, so we headed there and then somehow landed a last-minute lunch reservation. We quickly pivoted! I grabbed my trusty bag of tricks out of the car, I-Spy cards and Matchbox cars storied in this, coloring books, and off we went to Hillstone for kale salads while the kids split a burger.

They did SO well. Taking little ones out to restaurants can always feel a little daunting, but the more we do it, the more they learn, and I am absolutely obsessed with hearing them order their own meals. “Cheese buga peeees!” Ha! I could eat them up.

We came home, did a full Sunday reset, and then decided to top off the weekend with scooters and popsicles.

Such a sweet, simple little weekend with a side of… a LOT of construction dust.
