Monday Morning Musings | No. 398

Back from NYC…

Hi! Good morning!

I’m back after a whirlwind few days in NYC and currently curled up on our sunroom couch with a cup of coffee, waiting not-so-patiently for the kids to wake up!

We got home yesterday right at bedtime, so naturally we tumbled through the door with carry-ons full of presents for the kids and let them stay up way too late putting together new legos and playing princess. Honestly, coming home to them is by far the best part of any trip.

A girlfriend asked me what I bought in NYC and I laughed and said, “Do two tiny taxis, legos, NYC board books, a sparkly headband, and a flower princess count?!” Because if so, I’ve got a HAUL for you. I didn’t buy myself a single thing, but man, NYC toy stores are really so fun.

Ryan and I went up on Thursday and came home last night, and it was just so lovely to have a few days together in our favorite city. Our first day was jam-packed with two big overlapping events on opposite sides of the city (see here!), but after that, we really just spent our days wandering our favorite neighborhoods and being together.

At one point on Saturday, we sat in the glorious 65-degree sunshine on a park bench in the West Village for almost an hour, sharing a cinnamon roll muffin and people watching. And honestly?! It may have been one of my favorite things we did the entire trip. Just sitting there, nowhere we needed to be, in one of our favorite places.

Anyways, so happy to be home and back with my little people, but I’ll definitely share more from our trip soon. There were so many sweet little moments, really good meals, lots of walking, and a few stories I need to tell you. xx

A few things you need to know →

My new oven is being delivered tomorrow (hallelujah!) and this is what I’m making first. Tastes like fall!

One of my favorite home decor brands is running their Friends and Family sale right now… I’ve been on the hunt for a new dining room table and have my eye on this one for a while, may have to do it now.

Just ordered this, this, and this for Laurens. He’s fall weather ready! (Now Florida needs to get on board, ha!)

We’re tip-toeing into a bedroom refresh around the house too (so many projects omg) and are starting with these.

Carry-On Tote

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect carry-on tote forever, and this is it. The material is thick canvas so I know it’ll hold up through all the miles. Definitely a contender for our new The One Thing post!

We have a wedding coming up, and I think this may be what I’m going to wear. Love the classic feel and pretty neckline. Can definitely wear again for holiday parties, too. (With these under $50 earrings!)

New Favorite Denim

I also bought this pair of denim to wear in NYC, and I’m obsessed. I wore them during the day and then dressed up for out at night (see here). They do it all! So comfortable and flattering, highly recommend.
