Ashley Brooke wearing Lilly Pulitzer @ashleybrooke

I’m Back, Officially!

I missed you you all so much! Seriously, I don’t think I have ever taken a two week long break, or even a week long break, since I started blogging in 2009. It was way beyond (BEYOND!) time for me to take a step back and rest, so thank you for being so patient with me while Ryan and I spent lots of time with our families and each other.  It was the sweetest two weeks and we both feel so rested and ready to tackle the New Year!

Like I mentioned in our 2018 wrap up post, we spent a good portion of our break hospital hopping. Ryan had to have a few intense procedures and tests done to rule out the growth of any more cancer, along with a trip to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa for the final opinion on his next course of treatment.  That was on Wednesday of last week and we are happy (so so soooooo happy!) to report that all the doctors align and we will officially be moving into radiation this week! We are still trying to absorb the good news, after such a hard/heartbreaking/terrifying November and December.  This news was water to our very dry and tired hearts. We know radiation will be its own mountain, but we couldn’t be any more thankful for the opportunity to receive healing treatment. Praise the Lord.

2019 already feels like a fresh, clean slate and there’s nothing more gratifying than a new start. I’m excited to dive into this next season and bring you some really exciting posts! I’m already giddy about this week’s line up and, to be honest… we are just getting started! So cheers, friends, to the New Year and all of the adventures we will have together!

New Beauty Product Fave

I’ve been testing out lots of new beauty products and I’ll definitely be writing a review on my new favorites, but this one so far has made its way to the top of my list! I’m OBSESSED with this face cream. It leaves your skin feeling baby-soft and isn’t too oily or heavy. I can’t say enough good things about Fresh’s new Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Night Cream.

Your Word of The Year*

DaySpring put out a quiz this year to help you find your word of the year and I am obsessed with it. I mentioned the quiz over on Instagram Stories a few weeks ago and well over a 1,000 of you took the test, which was so exciting! The quiz is a simple 7 questions and well worth the five minutes – I honestly can’t recommend it enough.

My word of the year ended up being “Delight”, which I L-O-V-E and will be using for 2019. Please tell me you’ll take the test!!

Fun New Book

As you know, I am never not reading a book! I recently started a new one, Sophia of Silicon Valley, and so far I’m very into it. To be fair, I’m only on chapter 8, but it’s such a fun, quick, and lighthearted read! It’s for sure a “popcorn book” which is my favorite kind!

Map Necklace

Okay, I pretty much haven’t taken off my map necklace since I received it from my sweet friends at A.Jaffe! An engraved map necklace is just what it sounds like: “Select any address in the world, and let a diamond mark the moment that changed everything.”

My location pinpoints The Oxford Exchange, which is where Ryan and I said, “I do!”.

I have the 14k gold circle map pendent with the 22″ gold chain and I can’t say enough good things about both pieces. A.Jaffe also has a line that is more affordable as well! So definitely check it out!

  1. Ashley, I am so glad that I found your blog and will be able to keep up with you now! Getting to meet both you and Ryan during treatments was such a blessing for me. I am so glad that you received good news! Waiting is the worst and I’m so sorry that you had to go through that at the holidays. Hopefully time with your families made it a bit more bearable. Cheers for a new year and all of the blessings that God has in store for you and Ryan. You both are such an inspiration to me and so many others. Tell Ryan that I said hi and all of us from treatment have been praying for him and cheering him on from afar.

    • Gabrielle!
Oh my gosh, I can not tell you HOW much this note meant to us! Both Ryan and I had tears in our eye reading it! Thank you so much for your kind words, they seriously mean the world. We miss our Chemo team daily and pray for you all often. Honestly, we need to pop in and see everyone. We’re currently downstairs doing radiation, which is a whole new word, as you know.

Thank you for always making our every-other-Thursday’s brighter. We love you and the crew so much and we’re all stronger together!
