My Go-To’s!

When my sister and I were growing up my mom used to paint our nails and toes every Sunday night.  It was our thing. After all of the hustle and bustle of the weekend we would put on a movie and my mom would give us each a little mani-pedi, then braid our hair (or sponge roll!). That way, first thing Monday morning we would have freshly painted nails and crimped hair from the braids. It was truly THE BEST and one of my favorite childhood memories.

And, as you can see, this tradition has stuck with me! I make it happen just about every Sunday night, except for the braid part… although, maybe I should break out my sponge rollers and see what happens!? ha!

Lately I’ve been going back to the same three polishes; so today I thought I’d share with you my faves of the moment!

During the Summer I like to wear all the bright colors! And these three are the perfect shades of pink, coral, and red! Also, I love that all three colors look good on your toes and fingers…I don’t liked mixing nail polishes so that is always an important factor!

OPI Kiss My I’m Brazilian

The perfect pink! I love this color and have purchased the bottle twice, it’s that good!

Julep Alicia

The perfect coral! I really love this one! It’s a really soft coral, but not sheer… also, it goes on so well!

Essie Lollipop

The perfect red! Not too orange, not too pink, and it’s oh-so-glam!

  1. I always love a classic white mani–so clean and crisp! My favorite white is Essie’s “Blanc.” My second favorite is Essie’s “Fiji”, which is a really pale, beautiful pink. They both look so feminine and clean-cut.

My secrets to a great at-home mani/pedi include:
-Using Orly’s Rubberized Base Coat–polish sticks to it like a champ!
-Two coats of polish, followed by Seche Vite Fast-Drying Top Coat; nails are dry in less than a minute!
-Using a firm, small makeup brush (think eyeliner brush–I use e.l.f’s, because they’re only around $3) and acetone polish remover to clean up the cuticle area and around the edges of your nail BEFORE your top coat, so the top coat seals around the edges!

I’m definitely going after that OPI and Essie polish! Thanks for sharing!
