Ashley Brooke Designs- Anniversary Flowers

Good Morning and Happy Monday to you!

Here is just a peek at what I was up to this weekend”¦

On Tuesday night, we flew into NYC and decided to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary a little early since we were heading to the Poconos for a work conference the next day. Our plane landed at 6:30 p.m., and we were dressed and in an Uber by 8:30 p.m. on our way to dinner at Babbo. I was so excited to celebrate and thought just being in NYC with my favorite guy was enough, but a few minutes after we sat down, the waiter brought over this BEAUTIFUL bouquet of a dozen, long stem red roses and sat them down on our table; I looked over, and Ryan had this massive grin on his face–it was the sweetest thing.

I’m not going to lie to you, I totally toted these flowers back to our hotel in the city, and then the next day I buckled them into our rental car as we drove out to the Poconos, AND then, when we left the mountains on Saturday morning, back in the car they went! I couldn’t help it, they were too pretty!

On Saturday morning after Ryan’s conference, ended we loaded up our rental car and headed back to NYC for a quick visit. We were originally going to stay in the mountains for till Sunday, but with the city so close and that black spaghetti (OMG if you haven’t tried it you MUST!!!!) from Babbo calling our name, we packed up the car, booked a room, made dinner reservations, and headed back to the city!

One of the first things we did after we checked into our hotel room was head down the The High Line for a scenic afternoon stroll and ice cream sandwiches. It was the best day!

On Sunday, Ryan and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary!! It’s truly hard to believe it has already been a year. We spent our anniversary on a plane (ha!) which kind of sums up our first year of marriage, and we loved every second of it. We even had a little airport champagne to celebrate our year of adventure! Before that, we had the opportunity to exchange gifts, which is my favorite–I L-O-V-E to give a gift! But I have to tell you, the first anniversary gift was hard for me. I have been racking my brain for months on a meaningful “paper” gift (since paper is the traditional first anniversary gift); I wanted to make sure I came up with something good! Anyways, I finally landed on getting Ryan a book… a really, really, really, old book! For the past couple of years, any time we popped into an antique bookstore, he would ask the owner if they had a these two very specific books and of course, they would say no. So when I was racking my brain for an idea, I remembered these books he was looking for and thought Aha! I have my paper/thoughtful first Anniversary gift, but what I didn’t anticipate is how hard it would be to track these things down. But I did, and I got my little hands on T-W-O 1850 print editions! The sweet people over at Schilb Antiquarian helped me track these books down, they were so kind and INCREDIBLY helpful! All of this to say, if you are like me and are looking for the perfect 1st anniversary gift, feel free to use this idea! Because not only did this end up being super fun to give but we will now be able to pass these special books down to our grandchildren one day.

Hope your weekend was equally as lovely, but for now I am off to go get this week started! Cheers to an extra fabulous and productive week!!  xoxo
