How we made a small space functional

On Sunday night over on Instagram stories, I posted a photo of our guest room and I received quite a few questions about the details.  So I thought it would be fun to write up a proper blog post with all the details. Our little guest room is one of our favorite spaces in the house. It’s by no means over the top or extravagant, but it’s simple and styled. The room itself is barely 10’x10′ and actually, I think it’s closer to 8’x10’… so it’s teeny tiny but perfect for us! It comfortably fits a double size bed, a couple of nightstands, and of course a little luggage holder.

Over the past few years, we’ve hosted family members, friends, and dog sitters alike! I love having this tiny little guest room and the ability to say “come stay with us!” With a large family, it definitely comes in handy.

When Ryan and I were dreaming up the room we knew we needed it to be functional since space was limited, so we picked wall sconces instead of lamps to keep the nightstands clear, mounted a small wall shelf instead of a shelving unit, and found a stylish luggage holder since the guest room closet houses our winter coats. And it’s funny how those three little things are honestly what makes the room! I don’t think it would be nearly as cute without those sconces or as charming without the luggage stand! All of that to say, if you are limited on space like we are, don’t get discouraged, use it to your advantage!
