Gluten & Dairy Free Picnic
Fun in the Shade
Yesterday was kind of the best day. I spent the afternoon with my sister and niece having a picnic in their backyard! I woke up extra early so I could cram in as much work as possible, and then I packed up my picnic basket and headed over to my sister’s to blow bubbles with my niece, wear our fancy sun hats, and enjoy the most delicious homemade picnic of all time.
Florida really has been showing off with the weather lately, so we wanted to take advantage of it; plus if I saw one more photo of my niece playing in bubbles without me, I was going to cry. Ha! So I made it happen.

It really ended up being such a fun afternoon, and I’m thrilled I was able to make it work. I’d highly reccomend impromptu picnics with your favorite people whenever possible! 😉
I thought I’d share what we ended up making, just in case you, too, wanted to throw together a picnic of your own.

Gluten & Dairy Free Picnic:
Chicken Salad
My mom makes the best chicken salad, and I just used her recipe here. I don’t have actual measurements (honestly I just wing it), and it’s a lot of mixing and tasting until you get it just right. Here are the ingredients:
- Shredded or Chopped Chicken
- Mayo
- Dijon Mustard
- Celery
- Pecans
- Grapes
- Salt, Peper, Garlic Powder
Pasta Salad
I love pasta salad because it’s literally the easiest thing to make, and again, you don’t need an actual recipe. Just throw it all together and trust me, it will be juuuuust fine!
- Chickpea Pasta
- Olive Oil
- Cucumber
- Orange & Red Pepper
- Red Peper Flakes
- Avocado
- Tomatoes
- Lemon Juice
- Salt & Peper
Chia Seed Pudding
This is one of my very favorite things! Here’s the full recipe. This is a great one to just make and have on hand as a snack!
Watermelon
Can you really call it a picnic without watermelon?!
Apple Bread
Here’s the recipe!
Gosh, I love picnic food, don’t you?! Hopefully this post helps you get in the mood to throw a backyard picnic of your own. And remember: when in doubt, just do a pasta salad… it’s the easiest!

LOVE this idea! Had totally inspired me to do a picnic lunch with friends 🙂
yay!! I am so glad!!
I do almost the same chicken salad but add dried cherries and use herbes de Provence as seasoning (my tweak from my mom’s recipe). It’s the best!
OH so good!!!
