Well, This is where We’re At.

I apologize for the radio silence over here this week. Due to a few (ahem, major!) computer and hard drive issues along with our DIY home (clearly no longer just the kitchen) renovation coming to a peak this week, I couldn’t find a second or thought to sit down and write!

But guys, I’m back in the game and am excited to give you a few updates! Today I shared a BIG, and quite frankly embarrassing, walk-though of our current state over on Instagram stories. Hop on over if you are looking for the very real side of a renovation… it’s a DISASTER.

Don’t you wish you had a tool bench in your living room?!
Ryan cutting a trench for electrical to the kitchen island.

Seriously though, we are getting there and it’s SO exciting! The wood floors are officially going in (this is what we chose!) and truly this feels like the hurdle we’ve been trying to get over. Here are a few snaps of what our days and nights have been looking like lately – dusty but full of progress.

Removing old laminant flooring! Can you spot Dolly? ha!

What We’ve Accomplished So Far:

  • Raise all upper cabinets by 1.5 inches.
  • Remove backsplash
  • Install new drywall
  • Run electrical for under cabinet lighting.
  • Replace stove, dishwasher, and sink. (items purchased: stove, dishwasher, sink)
  • Retrofit cabinet for new sink.
  • Move over-refrigerator cabinets forward & build enclosure
  • Add top and bottom moulding to cabinets.
  • Paint cabinets and add hardware. (paint color has been selected: see here!)
  • Remove microwave and add hood. (purchased: hood)
  • Demo kitchen island and rebuild..
  • Remove tile floor
  • Install engineered hardwood flooring (purchased: flooring “French Oak Stinson“)
  • Build out new kitchen Island
  • New counter tops and backsplash
  • Window treatments & light fixtures.
Our home office, prepping for floors!
This is absurd. There’s a bathtub under there.

I’ll be sharing more about our wood floors along with all the samples we were deciding between. Plus Ryan has a few AMAZING DIYs coming your way. He truly is so talented, it’s actually incredible. But in the mean time, if you need us… you can find us at Home Depot. Ha!
