The Most Refreshing Cocktail / Mocktail - Southern Slush recipe

The Most Refreshing Cocktail / Mocktail

On Sunday evening, we had dinner at my parent’s house, and I shared this photo on IG stories, and y’all freaked out! Messages of “WHAT IS THAT!??!?!” flooded my inbox, so I promised you that I would get the recipe from my mom and post it here…and I’m making good on it!

My mom used to make “slushes” all the time when I was growing up, but hadn’t made them in a while, so when we walked in the door and I saw a tray of crystal full of slush, I was so excited! For those of you who are unfamiliar with a slush, it’s just a semi-frozen drink, like a slushy! When it comes to a slush, you really can’t go wrong; there are tons of ways to make them, but this recipe came from a dear family friend of ours and I’ve got to tell you, it’s worth making again, and AGAIN. So refreshing, and it’s just so fun to drink.

The Most Refreshing Cocktail/Mocktail: Southern Slush

Ingredients:
  • 1 – 6oz can frozen limeade concentrate (or lemonade)
  • 10 cups of water
  • 1 – 12oz can frozen orange juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar (optional!)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • vodka to taste (optional!)
Directions:

Mix all ingredients together and freeze overnight. Thaw to a slush (about 1 hour before serving) and enjoy!

*Recipe from the Junior League of Columbus, Georgia Cookbook

You’ll have to try it out and let me know what you think! I’ve got to tell you that the almond extract is what makes this slush SING. So whatever you do, don’t leave that out.

Happy Slushing!
