Styling A Classic Blazer
Traditional pieces and personal style…
A few weeks ago I shared a post on my current J.Crew favorites (this shirt is still at the top of my favorite list right now!) and that I’ve been working on figuring out my personal style words and I think I’ve nailed it down to… classic, flirty, and nostalgic (feels right?!), but it really has made getting dressed so much easier. It gives me some good perimeters to be honest.
So when I saw this blazer I thought, well, I LOVE it and it fits two of my three style words: classic and nostalgic.
And honestly, as soon as I put it on it just felt like me and there is no better feeling when you are getting dressed, right?! I paired the blazer with a simple black bag I’ve had in my closet for years (similar here), my go-to bodysuit, comfortable denim, and a very classic (and special!) pair of ballet flats (similar here). It all felt very simple and classic.
Anyway, this whole three-word exercise has me thinking and shopping differently… and I’m into it! I feel like I see things and think, “love that, but not for me” or realizing “ohhhh that’s why I tend to gravitate towards this style.” I’m telling you, it has made all things clothing so much easier!
Have you workshopped your three words yet? I’d love to hear what you are leaning towards!
And if you’d like a few more classic and nostalgic options…
Here is an awesome navy blazer (with gold buttons) option that is under $100! And this tweed version (also under $100) would be fun for holiday—easy to dress up with black slacks or just throw on over a white t-shirt (love this one) for running around town.
This cream jacket is classic with a twist (on sale), and is a great lighter option. There’s also matching shorts for a whole look! This blazer is full-on fall and a moment all on its own. Someone with cool temps right now needs to rock it! AND this pink blazer in linen (also on sale!) is too good, would be so fun for a resort look.
For shoes, these flats are such a good neutral color but with a bow twist. And this two-tone shoe (with a block heel) you could wear with everything. These loafers are full-on classic as are these ballet flats.
