Let’s Talk Summer Books!

We can’t wait to read *all* summer long…

Summer books are my favorite books! It’s no secret I love a fun summer beach read, and this summer is bursting with new releases that look amazing. I’ll have a relatively quiet summer with the new baby here (eek!)… I need to load up my Kindle to be ready, and I thought we could all use a summer book list with all the new releases in one place!

That all said, we’re also going to do something a little differently with book club… since I’ll be in baby bliss most of the summer, I’m announcing our Ashley Brooke Book Club summer picks today! Read on for our June, July, and August books that I can’t wait to enjoy together. Our ABBC Instagram page will be where we can keep in touch all summer long and discuss all the fun, romance, and best summer beach reads!

So, what do you think? I for one can’t wait!

Also! Didn’t you love Weekends With You, our May book club pick? The sweetest story of love and London, flatmates and flowers, everything a solid summer read should be. And here’s a few more books we’d suggest with a similar vibe!

Okay, so let’s get into it! The Ashley Brooke Book Club summer picks are…

June’s Book Club Pick

I’ve heard *the* best things about this book! This Summer Will Be Different by Carly Fortune has been popping up everywhere, and I’m so excited to read it. It’s set on Prince Edward Island, which sounds dreamy enough as is but add in temptation, best friends, a life crisis, and simmering romance and you have the perfect escapist summer read!

July’s Book Club Pick

Okay, I cannot *wait* to dive into Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan (releases June 4)! It’s the romantic and hilarious story of a professional organizer whose life is a mess and all about the summer she gets unstuck with the help of someone unexpected from her past.

I just adore her books… Nora Goes Off Script and Same Time Next Summer were both so good, if you haven’t read them already! Here’s a Q&A we did with her about her writing process and characters when her book was a ABBC pick.

August’s Book Club Pick

I love the authors Christina Lauren! And they’re back with The Paradise Problem, a delicious new romance between the buttoned-up heir of a grocery chain and his free-spirited artist ex as they fake their relationship in order to receive a massive inheritance. Should be equal parts heartwarming and hilarious, as their books usually are!

summer beach reads

I’m just so excited to read along all summer together, and remember to come say hi and chat all things beach reads over on Instagram. Also, here’s our summer reading list from last year with so many good ones if you need even more options, from new-to-then releases and some of our favorite all-time books.

Happy summer reading, friends! xx

June New Releases

Seven Summer Weekends by Jane Rosen (June 4)

A woman inherits a beach house, along with a series of weekend guests, while butting heads with the irritable (and irritatingly handsome) man next door, in this sparkling new escape.

One Last Summer by Kate Spencer (June 11)

From the cohost of the award-winning Forever35 podcast comes a dreamy, laugh-out-loud summer romance that asks: What do you do when the life you’ve planned isn’t what you’ve dreamed? (We also loved In A New York Minute, a previous ABBC pick!)

The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center (June 11)

What if real life turns out to be so much . . . more real than fiction? What if the love story they’re writing breaks all Emma’s rules―and comes true? (Definitely read The Bodyguard, too if you haven’t! It was a previous ABBC pick.)

Swan Song by Elin Hilderbrand (June 18)

The beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author brings her Nantucket novels to a brilliant finish: when rich strangers move to the island, social mayhem and a possible murder follow. Can Nantucket’s best locals save the day, and their way of life?

A Novel Love Story by Ashely Poston (June 25)

Eileen Merriweather has just found herself in a literally impossible place—Eloraton, the ostensibly fictional town of her favorite romance series. Can you get a real-life happy ending in a place that doesn’t actually, you know, exist? Let’s find out! (The Seven Year Slip was so good, too!)

July New Releases

The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh (July 2)

Sometimes you’re so busy writing other people’s stories that you lose the plot of your own… but with Georgina as her companion, Kelsey soon finds herself doing things she’s never done before. Eating street food. Swimming in the ocean. And writing her own romance—both in book form and in real life. So begins the Summer of Yes.

Humor Me by Cat Shook (July 9)

A hilarious, heartfelt novel about the healing power of female friendship, unexpected love, and stand-up comedy.

Hearts Overboard by Becky Dean (July 9)

Set sail with this banter-filled rivals-to-lovers romance between a STEM-loving girl and a jock guy that will fill you with wanderlust…and have you rooting for love in the great outdoors!

The Ex-Vows by Jessica Joyce (July 16)

Estranged exes must stick close together to save their best friend’s wedding after a string of disasters in this swoony and steamy second-chance romance.

The Backtrack by Erin La Rosa (July 16)

Song by song, Sam receives flashbacks from her past—senior prom, graduation, leaving home. But the memories aren’t as she remembers them; they show what could have been. Suddenly, Sam knows exactly what would have happened if she’d taken a chance on the boy she knew.

The Wedding People by Alison Espach (July 30)

A propulsive and uncommonly wise novel about one unexpected wedding guest and the surprising people who help us start anew.

August New Releases

Four Weekends and a Funeral by Ellie Palmer (August 6)

A tender, laugh-out-loud debut romance about a woman who ends up in over her head after a little white lie… can Alison come clean and finally embrace the life and love she’s always wanted? Or will her little white lie get in the way of her new, unexpected romance?

Miranda In Retrograde by Lauren Layne (August 13)

After getting passed over for tenure and having her life upended in the process, a physics professor decides to throw caution to the wind and live by her horoscope predictions for a year in this effervescent rom-com.

The Break Up Pact by Emma Lord (August 13)

Two best friends who haven’t spoken in ten years pretend to date after break-ups with their respective exes go viral, in this delightfully fun and deeply emotional novel.

Love and Other Conspiracies by Mallory Marlowe (August 20)

The hardest thing for a paranormal conspiracy theorist and a web series producer to believe in is finding love in this swoony debut romantic comedy.
