Here’s a little peek at all that I was up to…
Photo 1. Deconstructed Sushi Bowls
A few weeks ago, we had a great dinner over at our friends’ Sarah and Steven’s house. We had the most fabulous time hanging out on their back porch, sipping on rum cocktails, and watching the sun set over the lake. The whole evening was wonderful, but the meal Sarah served was equally as good! Friends, I’ve been making it constantly since then. She called them “Salmon Bowls”, and it basically was a sushi roll broken down in a bowl. They were SO DELICIOUS. Ever since that night, Ryan has asked for them at least once a week, so I’ve started getting creative. I’ve been changing them up with shrimp and other types of fish that we love! (It would be so yummy with tuna!) One week we had Salmon Bowls three nights in a row, and I was worried we might get sick of them. Fear not, it seems like that may just be impossible! Anyway, I had to share the recipe with you. You’ll have to try it out, and let me know what you think!
Salt & Pepper
Bake the salmon (or shrimp!) on a sheet pan with olive oil, chopped garlic, salt, and pepper in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 12 to 15 minutes. No need to flip the fish. Do the same with the broccoli.
Once your salmon and broccli are done, place aside and get your toppings ready. Mix mayo and sriracha together, and chop all other ingredients. Then fill up your bowls first with salmon, then with broccoli, and then add your favorite toppings! It’s quite literally the best meal ever.
Photo 2. Brunch All Day
On Saturday afternoon, one of the ladies from our church hosted a women’s brunch at her home. I was so happy it fell on a weekend we were in town because I was able to go and hang out with so many sweet women! We attend a small(er) church, and I love that we are really able to do things like brunch that bring us closer together and really get to know each other on a deeper level. So, on Saturday, we donned our brunch finest, whipped up our favorite dishes (I made this banana bread!), and enjoyed the afternoon sipping mimosas and having girl talk. I left with a full stomach and a happy heart!

Our backyard is officially finished (well, for now at least!), and I cannot tell you how happy we are! We finished it just in the nick of time before summer decides to really come in hot, and we really couldn’t be any more thankful! Over the course of a few months, Ryan has done some really fun DIY’s we are going to be sharing with you, and I cannot wait for you to see all of the details. I’m going to let him take over the blog for a few days and break down his how-tos”¦I think it’s going to be loads of fun!
Anyway, we’ve been trying to shoot the backyard for the past week, but per usual it has been a comedy of errors. It’s rained pretty much all day every day here in the “Sunshine State”, and we were fearful it wasn’t going to happen. We had a very short window to shoot the content. Starting this Thursday, we start our travel season back up again”¦so it was time to call in the big guns!
My sweet dad was SO KIND to drive an hour over to our house on Sunday morning at 5:30 am to shoot our backyard. The weather said we had about a 2.5 hour window, so we scheduled the shoot from 6:30 am – 9 am. and OMG, we made it juuuuust in the nick of time! Not only did the shoot turn out amazing, but we had the best time. Also, it really just doesn’t get better than my dad. He’s CRAZY talented. and I’m forever grateful for his creativity! He made a 6:30 am call time fun. I’d call that a win!
