The Prettiest Place We’ve Ever Been…

On Thursday morning we packed our bags and caught a flight to Aruba! To be completely honest with you, I had no idea what to expect, other than the beach. And for a person who lives in Florida, the beach can sometimes be, you know, just the beach… but I’m going to be real with you, this place was unlike anything I have ever seen! We’ve been to the Caribbean before, but never this far South, and friends, it was heaven.

The water was so many different shades of aqua blue the photos don’t even do it justice! We kept trying to capture the magic of the water, but it was impossible! I was also surprised by the weather. To be fair, I was kind of dreading the heat. When we left Florida on Thursday it was a muggy 95 degrees outside, and I thought “tell me again why we are going closer to the equator?!” But as soon as we stepped off the plane, I understood. The sun was BRIGHT but the constant breeze kept us from ever feeling “hot”, I was shocked, and SO thankful for a break from the Florida humidity!!

We were quite honestly swept away by Aruba’s beauty and the INCREDIBLY kind people, and the food… OMG cactus puree cocktails, where have you been all my life?!? We wished we could have stayed the rest of the week!

Our room with a view.

Waking up to this amazing view was nothing short of magical, and don’t even get me started on the balcony sunset watching we did every night! Unreal.

The first night after getting settled into our room and toasting to the start of our vacation we headed down to the lobby for drinks & sushi at Divi Bar & Lounge! If you go to Divi, do not leave without ordering:

The Ritz Carlton Roll (OMG), The Cadushi Cocktail (hello cactus puree!), and The House Salad (seaweed, avocado, and tuna… heaven).

After Dinner we took a walk on the beach to enjoy our very first hot pink Aruba sunset.

Day two was all about exploring! We headed out on an Island tour first thing in the morning. It was so much fun to see where the locals live, the rocky volcanic rock beaches, and breath-taking views of the island!

Note: If I were to do this day over… I would wear: shorts, tennies, and nix the hat! I may have thought I looked cute, but THE WIND! Oh my gosh, my hat stayed on for about 5 seconds and the entire time I was holding down my dress. The Aruba breeze does not mess around! Honestly, I was a human kite. Ha!

The island was filled with colorful homes and hot pink bougainvillea, all backdropped agains the crystal blue water. The island is one giant color wheel! The only thing that we couldn’t get over was how different the beaches were. On one side of the island was a calm sea with white sand beaches while the other had rough waves and black, rocky coastline! If you get a chance to go to Aruba, don’t miss the other side of the island… it’s just as beautiful!

After our tour we finally put on our swim suits and enjoyed all that the beach had to offer!

One of the many great things about the Ritz-Carlton is their water activities! I was so excited to hear that we had full access to the paddle boards, kayaks, snorkling gear, etc.! I had never paddle boarded before and we hopped at our first chance to get on a board. I think paddle boarding may have just been my favorite activity we did!

After spending the entire afternoon at the beach we cleaned up and headed to dinner at Solanio, the Italian restaurant on property. The food was amazing, great live local music,  fresh fruit cocktails were unreal, but the dessert…. friends, the dessert. It’s enough to book a plane ticket! Promise me if you go to Aruba you will try the “Spumoni” (vanilla sponge, orange coulis, dulce de leche, strawberry and chocolate ice cream…. aka, heaven.)

On our last full day in Aruba we took it slow. We had massages at the spa (I mean, there is nothing to hate about that) and then spent the rest of the day playing at the beach.

We wrapped up Saturday evening by watching the sunset and having dinner beachside at the BLT Steakhouse. P.S. I can’t with their popovers, vegetable chopped salad, and jalapeño mashed potatoes. So. Good.

Day 4 (departure)

On Sunday we woke up early to catch the sunrise and to enjoy the quiet beach, before we packed up our suitcases and caught a flight back home.

On our flight back, we talked about our highs and lows of the trips and well… there were no lows! Our highs were definitely those early morning sunrises on the beach. It was just so incredible to sit in awe of God’s handy-work without any real place to go. Aruba forces you to de-stress, and take in His beauty. And that by far was our favorite thing about our trip. We hope to plan another trip to Aruba soon and bring you all will us! It was just that good.

Over the weekend I got quite a few messages asking what I packed for the trip and details on my outfits! Honestly, I really over-packed… I tried REALLLLLLLY hard not to, but I failed miserably. Anyways, here are the looks that I snapped! I listed all of the details below, hopefully it’s helpful!
