Peaches and Cream
As you’ve probably noticed, we’ve been living outside recently. The weather here in Florida is practically perfect and it’s all anyone one can do to stay inside. It’s so heavenly! Our backyard has definitely become our oasis over the past few years. We’ve spent any spare time working to make the most out of our tiny space. But this year, we’ve added another element to our back yard that has totally stepped up the game, a Traeger.
Last year my dad got a Traeger grill and it’s all anyone in our family has talked about. Family dinners have become more and more frequent because my Dad WANTS to cook dinner on the Traeger (it’s a smoker and grill in one, so the options are limitless!). So he is constantly inviting the entire crew over, and honestly, we are happy to oblige. The magic that was coming off of that smoker was out of this world and we were all willing to drop everything for a family dinner that involved the infamous Traeger.
So naturally Ryan had been talking up Traeger and dropping hints that he too wanted a fancy smoker to add to the allure of our back yard. Fast forward to when Home Depot got in touch about partnering and Ryan JUMPED (literally!) at the chance to work with not only his happy place, Home Depot, but also Traeger Grills.
Ryan & Traeger Status Report
We’ve had the grill (exact grill we have is the Traeger Eastwood 22 Series) for two weeks now and Ryan has been out there smoking anything and everything, and it has all truly come out amazing. He even smoked the hams for Easter on Sunday. He loved impressing everyone with his culinary skills and, to be honest, it took a lot of pressure off me! Ha! He was in charge of the main entree and I wasn’t even a little bit mad about it!
The best thing about the Traeger is that it’s an electric and uses wood fired pellets, meaning you can dial in a temperature and forget it. There truly is little work, but a lot of results. As my dad says, “you get to stand next to it during a party with a drink in hand looking like you are really working hard, when in all actuality it’s doing the work for you!” And in my book that is a win!!
Over the next few months we will be sharing lots of outdoor entertaining content, and as we get to learn more about our Traeger, we will share our findings and favorite recipes!
Grilled Peaches & Ice Cream Recipe
Today I wanted to kick off our grilling season with one of my very favorite Spring and Summertime desserts, grilled peaches. This recipe is one of my all time favorites, it’s easy, it’s fresh, and truly delicious. Trust me on this one… it’s worth trying!
Grill Peaches, serves 4:
- 2 Ripe Peaches (halved and pitted)
- Olive Oil
- Sea Salt
- Vanilla Ice Cream (we used dairy free cashew vanilla from So Delicious!)
Use Traeger Apple Wood Pellets (adds a sweet, smokey flavor).
Start the Traeger on Smoke with the lid open until the fire is established for 4 minutes. Then set the temperature to High and preheat, lid closed, for about 15 minutes.
Brush the halved peaches with olive oil and sprinkle each of them with a pinch of sea salt. Then grill the peaches cut side down for 10 to 12 minutes, until they have those pretty grill marks. Serve over ice cream.
